After Maria 'roped' me into this I thought I'd better get out there that evening or I'd never do it. So when I got home I ignored my brain, trying not to let it know I was home or you know what that leads to...sweet FA. Trying to stay blank got my kit on and got out quick. I downloaded a training plan from the Great run site, if you've got a great ID you can register (mine's only from the swim of course, never thought I'd use it for a run!) So the plan said to do 10 mins, I planned to do 15 as that's twice round the block, but felt good, went round again (even after getting back outside the house) added a bit and did 25 mins - 2 miles! Whoo. Now rethinking the plan :)
Yesterday I went out again and did 2.17 miles and nearly died...pushed along by Jo who did her first run in 2 years, she's still in pain with weak back muscles after the op 12 months ago but just decided, hey it always hurts so why wait until it doesn't...'shit or bust' basically she said. She was supposed to run/walk but did the whole 1.3 mile route - I ended up letting her go on ahead of me while I dragged myself round, the bugger! She said is felt 'unbelievable! we just have to see how it goes now, she is totally incapable of 'little and often'. I think I'll have a competition on my hands now!
So today I'm just about managing not to have to walk down the stairs backwards, but there is a certain bandy leggedness about my efforts. Quads not good. Not bad so far though - don't think I've ever run that far in 2 days, never mind that and another 2 miles all at once! Early days though we'll get there.
ps. I seem to keep swearing, if it's a problem let me know and I'll get rid.
